Being a healthcare environment pretty much all our data has to be protected. So our monitoring traffic also benefits by either going across dark fiber or site-to-site VPN tunnels. 
Redundant connectivity everywhere allows us to rely on just polling the devices and not using traps or informs. This also simplifies the configuration of each device and requires less rules/policies in NCM to keep everything standardized.
